Cookbook Recommendations

McMegan has issued her annual Holiday Cookbook Gift Guide, and I suggest taking a look at it if you're interested in getting another (or your first) cookbook.

It was on her recommendation a couple years ago that I picked up Alton Brown's I'm Just Here for the Food, which is on the list again this year, and I haven't regretted it. That book has made me a far better cook by helping me to understand what's actually happening to the food during different cooking processes (though his use of scientific terminology is often a bit loose for this engineer's tastes). I'm seriously considering picking up another two or three from the list...
